Estonian Yearbook of Military History 9 (15), 2019: The past – a soldier’s guide for the present? Experience, History and Theory in Military Education include studying and teaching military history, theoretical problems in historical research as well as the role of military history in the military doctrine and strategic culture of different countries. Case studies range from the medieval period through the 20th century.
„The question, if history helps us to prepare for the future wars, is ever topical, because only wars fought in the past are available for study,“ the editor, Senior Researcher of the War Museum Kaarel Piirimäe said commenting on the new issue.
„This yearbook is a valuable reading for everyone involved in organizing and conducting military training,“ Piirimäe continued. He expressed hope that military history researchers in Estonia and abroad as well as all others interested in the field will find something for them in the new issue.
